A top legal staffing company reports that litigation paralegals are among this year's most in-demand positions at law firms around the country.
In a statement this week, Robert Half International cited a growing demand for attorneys who specialize in bankruptcy/foreclosure and patent prosecution, as well as in-house attorneys. Litigation paralegals and legal secretaries with knowledge of foreclosures rounded out the list.
"As competition intensifies and client budgets contract, law firms need top talent to enhance their service offerings and grow revenue," said Robert Half International director Charles Volckert, noting that some firms are navigating the recession by specializing in certain niche areas.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, litigation paralegals analyze legal materials, conduct research for attorneys and prepare explanatory materials on laws, regulations and other legal items. The BLS also expects general demand for paralegals to grow much faster than average in the coming years.
If you're interested in pursuing a paralegal degree, there's no need to wait around for the recession to end. Law firms need talented professionals now, and there are many different online paralegal courses and traditional classroom programs for you to consider.
