A paralegal and two professors from George Washington University have written a new section of The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation.

"The new section of the Bluebook provides uniformity and consistency on how to cite legal documents and actions that are affected by or related to government contracts," said Philip Greene Greene, paralegal and one of the authors of the new section.

The Bluebook, which prescribes the unique, standardized way legal material is cited, is a staple of for students and professionals in the legal field.

Greene was joined in writing the new section by Richard D. Lieberman, GW Law School professorial lecturer, and Jason D. Morgan, GW professorial lecturer in paralegal studies. The new section lays out a standardized format for citing legal documents, decisions and actions that involve government contracts. There had been no previous standardized method for the citation formats in this area.

Paralegals can be called upon to perform a wide variety of duties, not all of them tied to the courtroom. Like Philip Greene, their contribution can be academic, affecting the way the entire legal profession works. If making that kind of impact appeals to you, you might want to consider getting a paralegal degree.
