A California woman is putting her California degree to good use with her own business as well as a website that helps single parents with child support issues.
In a statement this week, Moira Boyle highlighted her new website, theqdrodoc.com, which explains the rights of single parents under California's Qualified Domestic Relations Order. Boyle herself once had to navigate the child support system as a single parent before receiving thousands of dollar in past due support after a long wait.
"I proved I could do it without attorney representation and the costly fees," Boyle said.
Boyle also runs another business called The Legal Doc, where she saves people money on attorney fees by providing paralegal services like assistance with legal documents. She also works as a freelance paralegal for a couple of area law firms. She received a paralegal certificate in 1989 and a Bachelor of Science degree in paralegal studies in 1991.
If you're interested in earning your own paralegal degree, Boyle is living proof that you don't have to wait to be hired by a law firm to launch a successful career. This is more important than ever in a time when many large firms around the country have been reducing staff.
